Aberdeenshire Shield final, HERE WE COME!!

There are five days remaining until the final of the Morrison Motors Aberdeenshire Shield between Inverurie Locos and Turriff United at Christie Park. With this competition being  very exciting this season with favorites Formartine surprisingly being knocked out by Huntly in the quarter finals quite comfortably which denied the Pitmedden side the chance to bag their second trophy after winning the Aberdeenshire Cup.

While Inverurie Locos edged out League two team Peterhead in a five goal thriller and Turriff won on the penalties against Fraserburgh. The both semi finals were filmed by the SHFLTV with Locos beating nine men Huntly in extra time who Gregg Carroll took charge of for the first time. Cove Rangers defeated Turriff by two goals. A day later the Turra versus Cove battle began with the Aberdeenshire side protesting about Cove fielding an eligible player Mark Perry which started this problem.

Then Turriff also had fielded an eligible player who was former Torry select keeper Paul Willox and it was believed he had only signed the day before. It was decided that it would be played at Harlaw Park so it wouldn’t make it unfair and both sides being fined undisclosed sum but Cove challenged this by saying it should be replayed at their ground as the tie had been played there so this happened.

Despite Cove’s advantage of playing at home they still got defeated by a single goal. The forces are in different parts of the league table as Locos are fighting for second place and United are in 12th place. This season, Turra have a superb chance to get your third Aberdeenshire Shield trophy. Who will win the Aberdeenshire Shield? Will the teams key players be at the top of their own games such as Gary Harris,Neil Gauld,Martin Bavidge and Gary McGowan.
