Forres say farewell to top keeper Mark Bowden

Keeper Mark Bowden said his Cheerios to Forres Mechanics as he moved down south with my family. He reflected back on his successful spell at Forres and told us on his highlights during his time at the Can Cans. I was lucky enough to see you playing against Buckie where he produced a tremendous display regardless of Forres losing the game 2-0. In my opinion he’s a big loss to the Highland League If he plays down south any club who gets their hands on him they should appreciate his work rate and talent. Below are his answers to the questions I asked him before he left the Highland League.

What have been your highlights of playing for Forres?

My highlights have to include the North of Scotland Cup penalty shout out win over Lossiemouth this season where I saved two spot kicks. Another highlight was saving a penalty against former Inverness Striker Billy McKay in pre season. I was also chuffed to have been awarded the Man of the match versus Buckie.

Who has been your best player you have played against?

The best player I have played against during my spell at Forres is Fraserburgh‘s Scott Barbour.

Who was the funniest guy in the Forres dressing room?

The funniest guy in the dressing room was Duncan Jones as he had a very dry sense of humour if that’s what you call humour.

How did it feel like to be managed by Charles Rowley?

Charlie Rowley is well-respected in the league and it was good to work with his whole coaching team including Russell McPhee and Charlie Brown.

What was the best save you have ever made and why?

Every save I have made were all the most important at that certain time.

If you weren’t a footballer, what would you be?

If I didn’t play football I’d be a bit better at golf or bored.

Who’s the best player you have played with?

The best player I have played with at Forres has to be Kyle Scott due to his effortless class.

Finally, are you planning to still play football else where?

I am planning to play down South but not until next season. No firm decision on clubs yet.

Next season the question is what club will be smart enough to snatch up this brilliant keeper? Time will tell. Bowden has all the qualities a true professional has. Suppose that I was a gaffer at a club Bowden would be on my transfer target list without a question. Farewell Mark and all the best for the future.
