Wick Academy have had a good season with them finishing 4th in league ahead of Formartine, Inverurie Locos, Fraserburgh and Nairn County. They were unlucky to lose in the Breedon Aggregates Highland League Cup final 4-0 to Cove Rangers.
Along the way to the final they knocked out Nairn County in the semi final by winning 2-1. Wick’s manager Gordon Connolly has a strong squad with Sam Mackay, Stevie Cunningham and Gary Weir all have struggled to get off the bench due to the impact many youngsters have made.
Despite a short spell at top of the table and an unbeaten run of not losing in 14 league games. But they didn’t shout from treetops when that happened they just went from game to game .
Star player = David Allan has been key in the team and deservedly picking up the Scorries supporters player of year.
Player to watch next season = Bryan McKiddie the midfielder has a bright future ahead of him and has a good balance of abilities.
Prediction for next season = I predict Wick will finish in 3rd next season. Gordon Connolly’s squad will learn from the cup defeat and use it to build on to achieve an even more successful season. Their passing and movement has been magical and exciting for the supporters.
