Fort William have had an impressive season with them finishing 13th in the league. Which was their highest league finish in their history. Their brilliant run of four straight wins for the first time put them in a place in many Highland League supporters’ hearts. It was Kenny Mackenzie who scored the winner against Clachnacuddin to make remarkable history for the West Highlands side. Sadly he is leaving the club but his name will remain Fort William’s history. This hard working side have shocked the world with them being well known for the right things and not their failures.
Calum MacLean the manager has done a cracking job fielding a determination and impressive team every week. The departure of some players was bad but I am sure they will recruit more talented players that can make their own stamp on the team. In a way they have become a victim of their own success. Money isn’t key to success its hunger and determination to play for the shirt that has been shown by the Fort players.
Star player = It would be harsh to single out any player as every player has played their key role in the success.
Player to watch next season = There are plenty of players I am looking forward in seeing shine even more next season.
Prediction for next season = I predict Fort William will finish in 12th or 10th as they will build on their successful season. But you can’t rule them out of finishing even higher than that. Let’s wait and see.
