Lossiemouth manager Charlie Charlesworth felt that his side let themselves down with the quality of goals they conceded and believes six of the eight goals they could have done a lot better with after they fell to a 8-2 defeat at home to Formartine United. But delighted with effort of the players.
Doubles from Paul Lawson, Scott Barbour and Stuart Anderson along with a goal by Graeme Rodger and Stuart Smith helped United defeat the Coasters at Grant Park which showed how subdivided the Highland League is this season.
Charlesworth said: “We knew we were up against it and fair play to Formartine they have tremedous players.Despite all the good play from Formartine I do think we let ourselves down by the quality of goals.
“The Highland League is very subdivided with a hell of a money to spend and Brora are keeping the ball rolling. It looks like a different Formartine team.
“Certainly in the second half we created a number of opportunities and things opened up a little bit when they pressed forward. But when we play teams like this you get tired. Overall there are a lot of positives we had to take this game on the chin and move on.
“One or two players will be missing this month for various reasons. We need to regroup for the game that matter when we can get proper points starting next week.
Charlesworth said : “Overall delighted with the application of the boys and we have to learn a bit quicker conceding simple goals. Just disappointed with Joao Rodrigues booking at the end he’s crowded out by Formartine players who got away from it and the other official for me saw it and was more interested in giving me in trouble. Referee did ok but missed some things. But thats life.”
