Turriff United manager Ross Jack was delighted with the win over Lossiemouth but it was overshadowed by Stuart Cumming breaking his leg.
A double from Nick Gray along with a goal from Gary McGowan and Craig MacAskill helped United defeat the Coasters 4-1 at the Haughs.
Jack said: “The second half was a tough affair for the boys and the atmosphere was down due to how serious the injury was to Stuart. I said to the boys let’s go and get the three points for Stuart. So with that in our mind we did our job and didn’t get beat.
“We haven’t had an update from the hospital yet but its a fair break down towards the ankle so it’s very tough for the lad and devastated for Stuart and his family. All the players are gutted for him. Just wish him a speedy recovery.
2-0 up after eleven minutes so totally controlled the first half and should have scored more. But fair play to Lossiemouth they shut up shop and made it difficult. We didn’t find the same tempo we had in the first half.
“Certainly in the second half we created a number of opportunities and things opened up a bit when they pressed forward. But when we play teams like this you get tired. Overall there are a lot of positives we had to take this game on the chin and move on.
Turriff United’s next game is on Wednesday night against Rothes. Jack said: “Another two massive games coming up and we have a few injuries.”
Jack was speaking to reporter Sean McAngus after his side beat Lossiemouth 4-1. Listen to the interview below:
