Formartine United progressed to the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup with a 3-1 victory over a hard working Gretna 2008 at North Lodge Park and manager Kris Hunter was just delighted his side got through to the next round.
The boss saw his team being put under intense pressure by their Lowland League opponents but United managed to get through to the next round.
Hunter said: “I think if we took our chances we created it would have been a lot easier for us. But credit to them they are a young team full of enthusiasm .I think we struggled to match that some times. The main objective was to get into the next round and have had a lot of tough games with us probably using the same group of players due to one or two injuries. We nearly have everyone back and will be able to chop and change.
“Performance wise at times we were really good and times we were sloppy but we can’t complain too much as we are into the next round.3-1 towards the end it was a comfortable performance. Delighted to be in the next round.
He added: “We could of made it alot easier for ourselves and taken our chances. But at least we are creating chances. Scott Barbour was more like himself and cause them all sorts of problems. Great goal from him and could have had another one.
“The keeper has had a good few saves just good to see who we will get in the next round. It’s good for the club and stressed to the players we want a run in the cup.Its just great for everyone connected to the club that we have a long run in the Scottish Cup and set out to do today.
