Forres Mechanics completed their fifth straight league victory as they defeated a lackluster Keith 2-0 at Mosset Park. In these clashes spectators except to see goals galore but this wasn’t the case.Goals from Liam Baxter and Dachi Khutsishvili in the first half were enough for a Can Cans victory.
The hosts were missing Scott Moore and Ross McPherson due to them being away on a stag weekend. Along with Paul Smith for work commitments and Gordon Finlayson was suspended. While Keith were only without Kris Duncan a former player for the home side as he was suspended.
With only two minutes gone Forres grabbed the opener as Liam Baxter cut into the box from the left and netted from a tight angle. Minutes later the home side produced some classy play when Fraser Forbes was persistent in driving forward and he passed the ball to Lee Fraser who held it up well to set up Dachi whose powerful shot flew past the past.
Then in the 11th minute Forres doubled their lead, Simon Allan whipped in a corner from the left with the Keith defence failing to clear which resulted in Dachi picking up the ball and sweetly smashing the ball past the near post of keeper David Dey who had no chance.
Not long after Andrew Howard played a clever pass to Dachi who cut inside to crossed the ball to Baxter who headed over. Soon after again Dachi played an influential role as he used his strength to hold off a defender so he could passed the ball to Craig McGovern who let fly with a left foot wonder strike which rattled off the post.
Just after the break Baxter almost grabbed his second and his side’s third of the match as his header was well held by Dey. Then McGovern’s free kick was pounced on by Fraser who fired a shot which Dey made a superb save to deny the striker. Keith freshen things up by bringing on Richard Henderson however it was too late as Forres’s two first half were enough to grab them all three points.
