Last night Gordon Winton resigned as Keith manager after a year in charge and he just took over last October from Graham McBeath who handed in his resignation due to his wife getting seriously ill. In his reign at the Moray club he guided them to 14th place in the league table and at the moment they sit in 13th.
On Saturday his side lost to Inverurie Locos by four goals. According to a source close to Keith Football Club Winton has departed the club with the news being announced to the committee and the team.
The reason behind him leaving the club is down to work commitments as the Whisky industry is struggling a lot. Winton has been busy recently with work at Diageo therefore he hasn’t been able to give much time to the team.
He feels that it’s in the best wishes for the club to leave his post at the Maroons. Meanwhile the rest of the management team which includes Physio David McMahon,Steve Dryburgh and goalkeeper coach Rod McKinnon stay at the club.
The question Keith supporters will wish to be answered as soon as possible is who is going to take over as the new boss. To some people this was a shock and to others it wasn’t surprising.
It will a big blow to the club as during his time in charge of the club he has done quite well. Now the chairman Sandy Stables has the difficult job of searching for the right man to take over from Winton.
