Lossiemouth manager Charlie Charlesworth delighted that his side got 2016 off and running in brilliant fashion as they won 4-1 over Strathspey Thistle at Grant Park in front of the Press and Journal camera.
Goals from Kevin Duguid, Shawn Scott, Ross Archibald and sub Ross Campbell wrapped up the victory for the Coasters.Despite Josh Race grabbing a goal for the visitors and a positive performance from Brian Grant’s side this couldn’t stop the home side from getting all three points.
Charlesworth said: “Delighted with the three points obviously and we have been struck on 25 points for a while. Its alright people speaking about how well we did in the first half of the season. But it’s important that we got the new year out of the way and a good three points. The spirit was good.
He was happy with the goals being spread across the team. “I think we have struggled with a goal drought recently and we have played some top teams. First goal from Biscuits, Duguid with a great individual goal in the second half which allowed us to settle down a bit.
“From that point on Strathspey put us under pressure quite a bit and a good twenty minute spell. “Rosco with a great strike outside the box and lovely to see young Ross Campbell at seventeen going up forward and getting his first goal for the club. “He’s got that in his locker so great work from the right hand side to get his goal.
“Today after the new year and games getting canceled off. It was good to see how the team was going to do and imagine for both sides it was hard work for the players still on the park. Good depth of the squad now and made some changes.”
